Startpage

Managers can format the group startpage to suit the group’s purpose. If Discussions is a common feature used by the group, it may be moved to a prominent position on the page. If the latest changes are important to the group, they can be top of the list. You can adjust the number of changes shown on the startpage: Management > Reports and Recent changes.

By placing items on the startpage of a group, they’ll receive extra attention. The possible elements to be shown on a startpage are:

  • Messages: by adding a message to the startpage you can easily communicate to the all the group members.
  • Announcements: text messages with a shortcut to an item to draw extra attention to these particular items.
  • Recent changes displays a list of recent changes. What has changed and how long changes need to be displayed can be set by the manager: Management > Reports and Recent changes.
  • News: all news messages are shown here including external news added via RSS-feeds.
  • Information: here several items are gathered that have been added to the startpage: file comment, bookmark, survey, weblog. All other items are gathered under their own headers, such as tasks or discussions. Emails, appointments and the address card are automatically saved in Outbox, Calendar or the Address book (contact tab) respectively
  • Folders*: folders shown in the menu on the left can also be shown on the startpage.

The elements for the column on the right are:

  • Members: a list of (online) members can be displayed on the startpage.
  • Tags: the most frequent used (predefined) tasks.
  • Messages: by adding a message to the startpage you can easily communicate to the all the group members.
  • My Notifications: shows the last notifications of the items you follow.
  • My tasks: shows all tasks of the group or – in Home – all tasks.
  • Related items*: shows the links to the startpage that were added.
  • My Groups**: all groups of which someone is a member .
  • My Calendar**: gathers all your appointments from all groups
  • My Questions**: shows all questions from all groups in which you are involved.
  • Chat*: shows if someone is present in the chat room.
  • My Inbox**: shows emails from My Viadesk. Will be displayed only when the Inbox in My Viadesk is activated.

The Startpage is schematically shown here. Determine the layout of the Startpage: ‘drag and drop’ the elements set up the page to your preference.

  • Click Management
  • Select Startpage
  • If you want to display an element on the Startpage, you can drag it to the required location
  • If you do not want to display an element on the Startpage, you can drag it to the frame on the right that has the Trash icon

When you chose no longer to display an item on the startpage, while several items of this kind are available, these are NOT deleted. They will only be hidden until the time you decide to display them again.

  • Click Save when you are satisfied with the layout
  • The Startpage is now displayed in the manner that you have specified. The layout of the elements can be specified in the second tab, Standard layout.
