Logging in with Google Authenticator

Two-factor authentication provides an extra layer of security when logging in. In addition to entering your username and password, in a second step you also need to enter a code. This code is generated by the Google Authenticator app.

Installing Google Authenticator
To activate two-factor authentication for your account, you must first install the Google Authenticator app on your phone. This is available for "Android in the Google Play store and for">iPhone and iPad in the App Store). After you've done that, go to the Viadesk platform.

Activate two-factor authentication with Google Authenticator
Go to the platform where you want to log in (https://voorbeeld.viadesk.com)
Fill in your e-mail address and password and click on Login
A QR code will now be displayed (note: the following is an example, you cannot scan this code).

  • To scan the correct code, first go to your own platform.
  • Open the Google Authenticator app
  • Click on the icon with the plus sign
  • Choose 'Scan a barcode' to scan the QR code
  • Scan the QR Code.
  • In the Google Authenticator app, a code will appear with your email address underneath it

Below the scanned QR code on the screen, click Continue
In the next screen, enter the 6-digit code that the Google Authenticator app displays on your phone
Then click Continue
You have now set up two-factor authentication and are logged in. From now on, you must always enter the code from Google Authenticator when logging in as an additional security step.

Please note that the 6-digit code in the Google Authenticator app is always valid for one minute. After this minute, a new code will automatically appear. So if you spend more than a minute before using the code, you will get a new code that you can just use.
